22 riders showed up today at MSP, all fast guys on the A1 and A2 team. It was going to be a 50 miles of flatland as the VeloViets work on its paceline skill for the upcoming Palm Springs Century in February.
The plan was simple, and that was to have 6 strong men rotating on the front: The Animal, Cap't, Tuan, Luke, Sang, and Arnel. We had a quick discussion of paceline techniques before the rollout.
After a few practive on Bushard, we finally managed to get a straight line in. This is some of the straightest lines I have seen in a big VeloViet group.
On PCH though, it was a different story. The narrow road and the noise of the car made it hard for us rotate and to communicate with each other. There was also Radio Shack rider that kept on passing us, then he could not hold the front and keeps dropping back and disrupting the rhythm a bit.
There were three stops, and all were extremely short... perfect! We just load up on water and jam.
Total ride time 3 hours and 20 minutes. We were back around 11:40 PM. Some of the A2 guys said they really like the ride as it was an almost constant and uninterrupted workout for over 3 hours.
Here we are at the coffee shop chatting with Andy.
Next week will be the same hopefully, more paceline workouts. Cut out 1 stop though.
Until then,
Phong
I think we could not ask for more...It was nice pack of RED moving along the PCH. We, A2 very appreciated A1 folks sharing your time and effort hung around and pulled us for 50 some plus miles today. You guys truly showing unity!
ReplyDeleteImagine, with these strong VV riders together in one pack like this morning we will dominate Tour de Palm Springs!
Thanks for the nice picture Phong!
Ride On...

It was nice running into the VeloViet paceline yesterday along PCH. I tried to ride with the pack for a little bit but backed off since I was just looking to slow spin, catch some sea breeze and unwind after a hectic week and consecutive XMas parties last weekend. Thanks for the lift and sorry if I didn't say hi or bye to everyone.
ReplyDeleteThe tight red and black paceline formation look pretty impressive. Keep it up guys!
Ride and let's ride...
