What Would You Do ???

Gentlemen,

This is a Bianchi Ducati Corse. It's a carbon frame that I have been looking at to stage a Rookie Attack on The Animal (aka Scott M ;-)!

Help me design my ultimate fast bike. If money was not an option, what parts would you put on a frame like this?

Now back to reality, if I had about $1500 in my pocket, and am savy on Ebay, what parts would I look for this frame?

Thanks,
Phong

  1. You need campy record component to go with that frame. Too bad I just sold my complete new Take-off Record Ultra Torque QS set 2 days ago;-( Congrat, I like that frame. Was considering buying it before because I was a Ducati guy. Very nice frame. Let me know if you need help building it.

  4. It's a tie so far: 1 for Campy Record and 1 for Shimano Dura Ace. Anyone else? What about other parts like wheels, etc...?

  5. For your bike, it's needs to be Record. Thomas is a Trek Man and has always been using Shimano.
Scott, I bought the groupset a couple of months ago awaiting for a nice Italian frame to build up like a Pina or Colnago. I offered to fellow Veloviet for a good price. I just saw a used one on Ebay going for $1400. Mine was a new take off and I was asking for much less than that. I told Phong about it but he waited too long. I sold it because I am trying to liquidate my extra bicycle spares.
My next bike I hope will be a Pinarello or a Colnago. For now I will ride my Cervelo and Cannondale.

  6. Sounds like a definite Campy build from Tuan. This means that it may take me a while to build as I have neither Campy components nor wheels. Does Campy BB needs special tool to install?

Where are those SRAM guys? How about SRAM?

  7. I have SRAM Red on my Cervelo. It's nice, light, and clean handlebar cable routing like the Campy. I like the shifting on the Shimano. But I still think you should run Campy on your Bianchi. You can run any wheelset as long as you change your freehub body to run Campy freehub. I think you can change the shimano freehub body on your Rolf wheelset to a Campy freehub body and you're good to go on the wheelset. Not sure if the Bianchi Ducati frame BB uses Italian or English thread, but I assume it is Italian threading since the frame is Italian. You do need a BB tool for it. I can let you borrow one if you need it.

  8. Thanks Tuan. According to Bianchi forum, all Bianchi bikes converted to English thread in mid 90s. I have been reading on the shimano to campy conversion and am thinking now this is not so good. May have to loof for a cheap used Campy wheel to ride for a while.

  10. I can't do SRAM on this bike Vinh. The VV guys will jump me if I put anything other than Campy components on it. The Italian pack here is too strong ;-)

  13. No response from Seller. It's probably sold.

Any thoughts on a Campy Eurus set? I noticed they are ~1500 grams and can be had for $800 new.

  14. Dashaan used to ride a pair. Supposed to have really good bearings too. Andy has new Shamal so see how those roll too.

  15. Thanks Scott! I will check in with Dashaan and Andy this Sunday on these Campy wheels.

  16. Hold out for a set of carbon wheel, you might be glad that you did....

  17. I agree with Billy. For that price range, you should get some aero carbon wheelset.
