Time for Velodrome !!!

VeloViet's MN team visited the local velodrome this past weekend. Seeing these pictures from Quang, I sure wanted to pull my bike out and look for a nearby running track (closest to a velodrome that I can think of) to simulate this quarter mile loop. Imagine the acceleration out of those banked turns!

Great experience MN Team!

Alright A1 and A2 teams from the OC! From the last count, we have about 6 or 7 riders, but we need twice as much riders to get the price down to roughly around $35 per person. Who wants to go to Los Angeles and try out the Carson's indoor velodrome? I think Scott D, Scott M, Toan, Long, Cap't, and I are in if I remember right. Tuan? Nic? Rock Racers? Postmen? Big H? Fed-Ex? Tandem Crew?

Out,
Phong

  1. Phong and OC VV!

It was super fun @ the Velodrome for us here in MN. Also a great work out session too! There was a drill that instructor splited group into 2 and one group was behind Tim's wheel, and one group was behind my wheel ... we were half track apart and trying to keep the distance but I did not know Tim was trying to chase us ... so I tried to maintain it but then after about 15 laps ... I could not keep it anymore so I asked Greg to take over ... But Tim's group still got us! That was about 25+mph for few miles and we were no match for Tim because he is a CAT2 on the track so none of us have any chance! LOL!

After the class, we want to do it again and some even thinking of getting a track bike ... so watchout for VV HPTeam ... A track team coming soon! :)

Take care U all, hope to hear about your 911 ride! Who will be there?

Hope U all will have fun doing it too! Practice 20+mph paceline for about few miles without slowing down before bringing your crew to the track because if the instructor leave U up there ... you need to contine to keep that minimum speed! Experience rider can get off the paceline but 1st time on track won't know how to and end up stay in the paceline until U done! = NO WAY OUT FEELING! and need good fitness to stay on there for 20+ laps and if slow down you will fall of the track ... that was what happen to us! :)

Since no one had speedometer so best to keep the speed at about 25+ to feel good and safe! And U can see that some of them getting drop from the paceline after 15+ laps! LOL!

  6. Man I can use $20, but I think Mad Dog, Nic, Cap't, Tuan, or Fed-Ex will have better chance at beating the fast time!

Lets try to arrange a session some time after October or early next year, as we have too much stuff going on until then. I will start collecting names and get in touch with Scott D to get more info on the velodrome.
