May 15th Ride Report

All the die-hards showed up today hoping that the rain would clear for a bike ride. We even had 5 guests who came out to do the ride with us.

Anh Linh, Nguoi Viet newspaper reporter also came out to interviewed us. Not sure if he got the interviews or photos that he wanted. VeloViet hoped Anh Linh can come back and we can do a more proper interview for him!

Right at 8 AM, the sky floodgate opened and the rain came down hard! We waited around chatting for another 1/2 hour but no hope. Instead of lessen, the rain only got heavier.

The guests were still pumped talking to us, especially Sarah who is training for an Ironman. She promised she will try to come back and ride with us in 2 weeks.

So what did we do? Pho and coffee of course! In 2 different places no less! First it was Pho at Pho Kim on Bolsa Avenue. All of the VeloViets took over a corner of the restaurant. Then it was to Coffee Factory where we chatted and laughed so hard.

Luke had his wife and 2 sons come down. Looks like Luke has been training Sebastian and Marcel on their bikes. They can ride with no training wheels now! Watch out racers, here comes the new VeloViet recruits (in about 10 years ;-)

Out,
Phong

  1. Although the rain stopped us from riding it didn't stop us from having fun while enjoying great pho and coffee with our fellow riders. Steve cracked us up with his bike related spending experiences. Kristy brought down the house with her advices and stories. And I think Luke said something about he wants to get stronger and will start riding a tandem with his wife :) There was a lot of laughter. It was a nice change from socializing on the road. We should do it more often.
