Feb - 27th. The Big Bad A2 Hound Dogs...

I woke up and looked out from my bedroom window, it was a gorgeous sunny & clear blue sky on the early Sunday morning. But at the same time, the cold chill filled the air I also noticed that a small part of my front lawn was still covering with thin dust like ice, I know it's very cold out there...

How many of us willing to kicking off their blankets and get out of their warm beds? I was wondering...It does not matter, I packed up my gears and drove out...I was first to arrive at the park. Then Randy, Ngoc...and VV riders kept on showing up. Around 28 of us and a few more guesses, our special guests yesterday was team Yahoo! (Haldane & Kristy). Thank you everyone for coming out and ride with us!

1. Special guests Team YAHOO! Haldane & Kristy

2. Dashaan & Sang chitchating with team Yahoo! Kristy

3. Hoa, Danny, Minh Ly, John & Jonathan

4. Whole team of Rock Racing...

The excitement was quickly filled the air, the morning chill seem no longer staggering the VV riders. We rode out together in a large bunch, nicely and smoothly...it was a spectacular scene for bystanders around the park and on the Brookhurst street. C'ause we were all looking awesome!

We stayed together for a while until at the first restroom stop near by the Honda Center. Greg G, Sang, Arnel and the team Yahoo were the only members among the A1, The A1 wolves were out number by A2 hound dogs...This time the hound dogs will chase the werewolf! They can smell the danger so the poor small A1 wolves pack took off first, then a minute later the A2 dogs sniffing the air for the last time then all heading out follow the scent of the sacrifice wolves. The chase had began...

Duc, Ngoc, Kyanh... taken turn pulling the A2 hound dogs, quickly on the turn right at riverbed & Chapman we caught up with the A1 wolves...their lives were at risk. Unfortunately, Nancy got problem with her bike, some of us helping her in the back and the rest of the pack pulled in the 7/11 nearby waiting. Our chance to get some "fresh meat" were gone with the wind! The "poor" small A1 wolves pack was getting away farther and farther...

We finally met the A1 wolves again at the Jamboree/Chapman water stop. They had been waiting for us...they probably had something in their minds, a set, a "kill" game may be???...But we need to refill the pack with water & energies after a few moderate climbs. The A1 wolves showing their fangs to the big pack of hound dogs for the last time then ran for their lives out of this dangerous zone while they still have a chance...

After the break & the refill, you can see the veins wrapping around muscles on their A2 legs popping up, their eyes glaring at each other one by one heading out the area...The speed of the pack quickly rise when we heading slightly down hill...everyone charged in, Nancy and Steve (guess) did not give up, they know this pack will have no mercy on any moving thing so they do whatever they can to survive...w/o Tan, Nancy proved that "I am no joker dont even think of shaking me loose". Yes she proved it for the entire route. Way to go Nancy ! ! !

5. Any groups better than this group??? At the re-group point on Sand Canyon...

On the way back to the Newport Coast climb, both Duc & RR Cang suddenly blasted & made to the top first then myself huffed & puffed following Ngoc, rookies Hoa, Jonathan & the rest. Donavan & Loc (Pinarello) missed the turn at Sanjoaquin Hill, they went straight instead, so we lost them. The rest gathered for the last time at the rest stop for refill and heading back to base.

Beside the big bad A1 wolf Duc spent most of his time pulling the pack, Ngoc & Kyanh also taking turn working very hard pulling the pack for whole time. Thank you VV riders! I love every moment riding with you guys...And remember ride SAFE! See you all again next Sunday...

Ride on...

  2. Sounds so much fun. I like the use of wolves and hound dogs. The hunters and the hunted. Even your wheels look fast. Some of your bikes appear to be kinetically moving although you are standing still. Is there a B rider somewhere with this group? I would be among them.

  4. What a fun and interesting recap A.Toan, I agree with you it was a freezing cold morning and what really surprise me is that all of the A2 were at the MSP parking lot. We did the whole 60 miles hilly route and every one were doing fantastic job. We was kind of hang loose a bit on Taft but we obey traffic good. Good to see Duc, Chi, Tan, A Loc came out riding with VV after MIA for a while. The new crew PBK ride stronger every Sunday and I can see Hoa and John did some pulling, great job guys, watch out Postal and R R team, these new breed will be hunting the Wolf in no time. I just can't wait to see them open their claws and climb GMR. I will be missed this Sunday ride, see you on the next.

  6. Thanks for the recap Toan, I remember it like it was yesterday :)

Oh, and don't forget about Hoa's maiden voyage on his new Pinarello. Looks like it's a keeper. Let's just say I never saw the front of it.

New guest rider Daniel came out again and so did Jimmy, who always seems to have a different bike when he joins us.

Also, welcome to returning guest rider David. He enjoyed last week's ride so much that he brought his brother Geraldo and friend Greg. They kicked some butt out there.

Finally, welcome to another guest rider Steve, who we met at the end of last week's ride. He's been riding Back Bay for several months and his longest ride was 35 miles. On top of that, he's never done hills before. So for his first group ride, he got a surprise introduction to hills (and did fine) and managed to complete the entire 56 miles to set a new PR. He was all smiles at the end of the ride. Way to go Steve!
