The Preparation for 2011 GMR

“Release the Kraken” delared Cap’t “Zeus” Thomas!

Those words had echoed loudly a year ago, and the battle fought in that day on the GMR mountain was great. The mighty Kraken beast had crushed all mortals, and the sense of utterly helplessness had ravaged in all minds except those of “Kraken” Fed-Ex on that day. With GMR, this mighty climber had seized the VeloViet’s 2010 KoM award, and defeated all other contenders with a crushing blow!

Time had slowly erased the pain, and peace had settle on these roads to the sky. Memories of GMR had loss its impact in the minds of the VeloViets, as other challenges had dominated the minds of the Viets.

With the aniversary date approaches, the VeloViets once again stood up, and seek those few who dare to challenge the Kraken Beast. Rumors of increase training on the mountains have surfaced these fast few weeks, as contenders and pretenders get ready for the VeloViet’s 2011 KOM battle.

There are new riders among the VeloViet pack. They will feel real pain on a true high catagorie GMR mountain. They will feel the power of a world class climber. Will they be brave enough to try to climb her? Or dare to attack Fed-Ex?

One new VeloViet member that stood out in today’s windy and rainy ride is Master Racer Haldane. A newcomer to the VeloViet pack, this was Haldane’s second ride with the VeloViets. A relative unknown with an astounding ride resume, racer Haldane, Steve N, and Luke lit it up on the Newport Coast climb. Could this trio be the answer to the FedEx domination on the GMR slope?

The Kraken Beast patiently awaits when Zeus once again release its chain. GMR though is not the casual climbs of Newport Coast. This is gonna be one f’ing hell of a climb!

Welcome... to the first high-mountain of the 2011 VeloViet season! The majestic Glendora Mountains!

Out,
Phong

  6. I loved the music! The first song and moving pictures of the cast makes it like a drama to unfold. The romance in the third song brings forth the beauty of the ride. Then the action music kicks on and makes you want to go ride GMR right then and there!

Thank you Cuong for bringing back these memories! I can't wait to ride GMR with my VeloViet brothers and sisters, and our friends from invited club! Bring it on FedEx! I am ready for the pain!

  8. Hello OC VV,

Last year when I talk to captain Thomas and he told me that you guys don't like hill that much. I don't think so because all I have been reading on this blog from you guys are hill and hill and more hills. Don't do too much hill because you might get hook and end up going for serious diet so U can climb faster ... and at the end U might end up looking like flamingos! LOL!

I love this post, pic and read all the comments. Please keep it up because we MN will need it for few more weeks! :)

Take care and have a great ride this weekend!
It just got cold again here ... so I will lead a group of cyclists doing in door for about 3 hrs ... and this will be brutal and fun ... we will race like in the tour when each group will take turn to attack, hill repeats and 30 TTT @ the end. Will snap some pictures and video to share with U ... Rich Imagination will be the key to last on the saddle for that long.

    Peace,
    Quang
