August 7th - The Fit Kit Ride

Short but hard ride today. Cap't announcement that today's ride was going to be an easy, paceline practice ride did not deter those howling A1 and A2 wolves from attacking. Speed reached clode to 30 mph on the flats as everyone was trying to chase down FedEx!

Seems flat is a common thing on our rides today. There were 3 flats all together. Luckily none of the flats came from Steve C (aka Mr Tubular, aka Mr Flat). I think if Steve had another flat on our ride, we all would just leave him!

FedEx went into "bazooka" mode and blasted everyone on Back Bay. The chase was on all the way to CircleK and speed reached near 30 mph on University. Most of the A2 folks hang tough.

The way back was tougher and the pack split. Still, there were at least 15 riders that stayed together. We rode hard to MSP. The picture below depicts the hard tempo on today's ride!

  1. The Sunday ride has become the "torture" ride to (so called) "A2"...It just getting tougher and tougher!!!
One thing that most of us have noticing that is the big A1 brothers can no longer shake A2's pack loose...No matter what they had been trying to do, we're now adapting to this harsh environment, even the speed was up to 31 mile/hr on our speedometer, even the "climbing God" Fedex was also trying to tear the pack apart! But...heck no, we were gluing to his tail even though being whipped like crazy with this awesome force!

The A2 name is now fading away...will soon we just have only one name Veloviet Road-Runners!

  2. I was extremely impressed how Cap't close the gap to FedEx on the return at Back Bay. FedEx had created a 200 feet gap and no one could closed. After I yelled to the front guys to close, which they could not by the way, Cap't went around 10 front riders and close it down himself. This was an awesome display of strength, especially since it was FedEx ahead by a LARGE gap!

Yes, our A2 riders are definitely stronger, but A1 guys like Cap't can do stuff like this. Once they attack and create a gap, it is extremely hard to pull them back. I think we need a couple of aces up our sleeves too from our A2 team on Lady Palomar. If FedEx attack like he did on the hills, I am not sure if anyone of us can pull him back.

So we gotta attack FedEx first on Palomar! I say sacrifice the Newbies and Rookies first ;-)

  3. I agree, that was a short, flat, but hard ride. There were couple of times that I want to drop back to breath but I really did what ever I could to hang on with the fast pack. A Toan, A Thang, A Minh was on fire so the rest of A2. We ( A2 ) have improved a lot on flat, but we still far behind A1 on hills and rolling hills. Cap't is back with real force, watch out guys.

    Can't wait till Sunday, Ngoc
